Girls Varsity Tennis · NEW GIRLS TENNIS HEAD COACH NAMED


Coach Rob Spencer will be stepping away from Girls Tennis and will continue to coach our Boys Tennis team. We are pleased to officially announce that his #1 Assistant, Ivey Welborn is being named as our New Head Girls Tennis coach. Ivy was a standout player for the Jackets as well as Anderson University. She currently teaches at Flat Rock Elementary School in Anderson District Three.

Ivey Welborn is a former T.L. Hanna tennis player, beginning as 7th grader and continuing until her senior year. During her career, she competed at the No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles positions each year. As a Yellow Jacket, she earned numerous awards, including 6 time All-Region, 4A player of the year her senior year and tied the record for consecutive championship wins at the Belton High School tournament. In 2013, she finished her career at T.L. Hanna by helping lead her team to a state championship title, where she went undefeated in playoffs.

Welborn continued her tennis career at Anderson University, where she competed in both singles and doubles for the Trojans. During her career, she competed at No. 1-3 singles and No. 1 and 3 doubles positions. She earned five postseason all-conference accolades and reached a career-high No. 22 national ranking in doubles.
