Boys Varsity Cross Country, Girls Varsity Cross Country · XC Teams Eat Up Competition at Domino’s Invitational


The T.L. Hanna XC team hosted the Domino’s Invitational this past Saturday.  The temperature was hot, but both the girls and boys teams toughed it out and both teams had great performances!

The Boys won the Varsity race placing 7 guys in the top 17 overall finishers.   Austin Spencer, Connor Buckless, and Scott Daughtry went 1-2-3.  Followed by Jack McGahey, Nick Rozakos, Evan Smith, and Christian Hilton rounding out the top 7.

Girls finished 2nd overall, and won the class overall 4A/5A division.  The top 6 girls all placed in the top 30.  Riley Nicholson, Elizabeth Fortner and Ellison Waters metaled by placing in the top 15 and were followed closely by Kaelyn Slaughter, Mykala Cantrell and Sarah Chandler.

The  JV teams also had strong performances.  Melinda Schenk and Hannah Salley went 1-2 in the girls JV race, with Catie Ellison also placing in the top 10.  In the boys JV race the Gavin Wacker and Solomon Canup placed in the top 10.  Both the boys and girls finished 2nd.  

And in the hottest race of the day, the Middle School race, the boys place 3 in the top 5. Michael Regan and Jude Lazarus went 1-2, followed by Bennett Marshall who placed 5th overall.  JP Little and Carter Cape helped secure the boys victory.  On the girls side Mary Tracy Moorhead finished 2nd in the Middle School race.

The boys and girls compete Saturday for the Region @ Civic Center.
