John Cann named Charles Arthur Stuart Athletic Administrator Award Winner

Coach Cann was awarded this prestigious award Sunday night at the SCACA Hall of Fame Awards Banquet in Charleston.  The Charles Arthur Stuart Athletic Administrator Award was established in 1995 in the honor of Charles Arthur Stuart. Coach Stuart was a long-time Coach and Athletic Director in the Columbia area. The award continues to recognize Athletic Directors who demonstrate not only outstanding athletic programs in the SC public school system, but also recognizes the organizational skills, the integrity, and professionalism of the individual.

Coach Cann has been an AD the past 15 years – 12 years as AD at Landrum HS and currently in his 4th year at TL Hanna HS. Initially went to Landrum HS in 2001 as the Head FB coach and became the AD in his 2nd year at the school. He was the Head FB coach for 7 years and AD for 12 of the 13 years he was there.
As an AD – 13 teams captured State Championships. Fortunate to be a part of building a brand new Landrum High School in 2006 as well as overseeing 6.5 million dollars of athletic facility upgrades at TL Hanna High school in the past 3 years.
State Level:
• Served on SCFCA board under Coach Mike Ware while a Head FB coach at Landrum HS.
• 2012-was presented the SCACA AD of the year award.
• Past President of the South Carolina Athletic Administrators Association Board of Directors, (SCAAA). Holds the CAA National certification as an AD.
• Currently serves as the Vendor coordinator for the SCAAA / SCHSL Spring conference in Charleston each spring.
Coach Cann is married to Nancy Davis for 32 years, have 2 children and one granddaughter. Their son Mark played football at Marshall University and is in the solar energy business. The Cann’s daughter, Caroline was a multi- sport athlete in track and VB at USC and currently is the sideline media host for the NFL Indianapolis Colts.
